Hello everyone,

I’m issuing a formal clarification for the piece “Portsmouth has a transparency problem.”

CLARIFICATION: The article originally stated that Sherman was “paid $7,500 upfront for the mockup.” Sherman, like Deacon, submitted his initial conceptual work without guaranteed compensation. After the city approved his design and awarded him the commission, he received $7,500 as the first installment toward the $15,000 contract.
